Veteran entertainment technologist Travis Savo announced today that his company, Verse Studios, has entered into an external funding round with a target of securing US$500,000 over the next year. The company is actively involved in production of its Real Time Strategy (RTS) PC game titled Verse: Tactics and is looking to rapidly expand over the next 18 months. The California-based company has steadily grown since it was formed in May of 2006, expanding over the last six months to include a satellite production studio, Verse Studios Canada, in Vancouver, British Columbia.
"We are really excited to be moving forward as a company, and are looking forward to talking with investors and colleagues at GDC. This round of funding will allow us to realize the initiatives that are so important to us as a gaming company, and as members of the gaming community," said Verse Studios co-founder and CEO Travis Savo. They will be discussing their future in detail at the upcoming Game Developers Conference 2007 in San Francisco, and invite anyone in attendance to come find out more.
Verse: Tactics
Verse: Tactics, the first product to begin development at Verse Studios, is an exciting space combat game combining traditional RTS action and community-driven game play. Verse: Tactics will let players control every aspect of the battlefield, from tactical command to large spaceship control to dog-fighting.
Verse: Tactics focuses on real-time strategic game play in which teams of players engage in space warfare in massive to-scale 3D arenas. Building teams and taking up sides in a conflict, players will engage in combat, tactical and strategic planning and resource gathering in order to achieve victory. Each battle scenario will be a unique and exciting experience filled with surprises and explosive game-play action. Players will have statistics that are tracked and charted over multiple battles, allowing players to not only compete in battle, but also on game-wide scoreboards for top positions in the community.
